On the Perch Near the Birch

Here's another poem. This is one of my personal favorites. It's a more recent effort and was inspired by the excellent illustration by Leontine Greenberg, which you'll see if you click the link. If you like this one, why not order yourself a copy of our book, A Sudden Rise in Life, which features more full color illustrations by Leontine and 5 poems and a short story by yours truly.

I Beatrice said...

I came upon your blog by a rather circuitous route - I was trying to find the origin of the title of Salinger's story "Raise high the roofbeam carpenters, the bridegroom cometh", which I wanted to use in the course of one of my own blog-posts.

I have since read your review of that story (and others), and very much enjoyed it - and will visit you again.

In the meantime, if you should happen to know the origin of the title (it sounds vaguely "Song of Solomon" to me), I should be so very grateful if you'd pass it on...?

I live in London - though as it happens, my husband and one of my sons are currently on a short visit to New York, a city which they both adore.
